The Akra Collection brand by Brazilian fashion designer Samuray Martins attended the International Faire Trade Summit, which took place September 16th-19th, in Lima, Peru.
Leaders and practitioners of the fair-trade movement gathered to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the World Fair Trade Organization - a global association of 401 organizations that are committed to improving the livelihoods of economically alienated producers.
“We had the opportunity to exchange experiences and learn about sustainable digital market expansion, certification systems and how to do business with fair trade organizations,” says Martins.
In addition, the fashion designer opened the door for a future expansion of the PROJETO AKRA into the Faire Trade world market, whose idea has been worked out in recent months with the support of the European Union.
“I paid a visit to the artisan communities I work with in Peru and shared the ideas exchanged and learned during the forum to ongoing the work of developing a socio-economic improvement network for the communities, supporting national handicraft production and the sustainable market of the slow fashion,” says Martins.
